White Lies is described as an “urgent exploration of race and privilege, inequality and identity.” Set in the wealthy neighbourhood of Bishopscourt, Cape Town, the series is described as following investigative journalist Edie Hansen (Dormer) as she gets caught up in the ugly underbelly that lies beneath the picturesque beauty of the city, dragging her back to a turbulent past....。该剧讲述了冯大志一家，家庭成员间的互动与成长，包括孩子因虚荣心对父亲的误解、冯大志事业起伏及家庭地位的变化、以及女儿小萱的乐活生活与恋爱经历。。一场意外，温澜失去了记忆，并在家人的介绍下和穆白结婚，可婚后生活的两人感情淡薄，嫌隙四生。而当意外再生，温澜找回了过去的记忆，她果断选择和穆白离婚，去追求自己的科研之路。可当穆白面对着与之前完全不一样的温澜，他竟开始隐隐不舍，甚至无意识地拖延办离婚证的时间。直到温澜搬离穆家，将重心转移到药剂研究上，二人才彻底离婚，也是在此时，穆白才意识到自己对温澜的爱意，开始展开死缠烂打式的追妻之路。。
